Synthesys has been generating AI video, voice, and avatar content since 2020 — longer than most AI companies have existed. With over 1,000,000 videos produced for 50,000+ businesses, we understand that the power of AI generation comes with concrete responsibilities. This page outlines what we do — and don't do — with the technology we build.
Consent & Avatar Data
Every AI avatar in the Synthesys library is created from consented talent. Custom avatar creation requires identity verification and explicit consent from the individual being replicated. We do not generate avatars of public figures, minors, or individuals without documented permission. Voice cloning follows the same consent requirements — users must have legal rights to any voice they clone on the platform.
Content Moderation & Misuse Prevention
Synthesys operates automated and human-reviewed content moderation. Prohibited content categories include: misinformation and deceptive political content, non-consensual intimate imagery, content exploiting minors, impersonation of real individuals without consent, and content designed to harass or threaten. Accounts violating these policies are suspended immediately and permanently.
Data Handling & Privacy
Synthesys is a London-based company subject to UK data protection law and GDPR. User-uploaded content (scripts, images, voice samples) is processed for generation purposes only and is not used to train AI models without explicit opt-in consent. We do not sell user data to third parties. Custom avatars and voice clones remain under the control of the account holder. Full details are in our privacy policy.
Transparency & AI Disclosure
We believe users of AI-generated content should be transparent about its origin. Synthesys recommends disclosing AI-generated content where platform policies or regulations require it. As AI disclosure regulations evolve globally, we update our platform to support compliance — including metadata tagging and watermarking capabilities for generated content.
